Speak Up: Georgetown Fire Co.’s Oyster Eat draws a huge crowd

Posted

By the numbers, it appears that Georgetown Fire Co.’s 86th annual Oyster Eat on Feb. 24 was a success. Hundreds of patrons packed the engine bays for four hours of raw and steamed oysters, egg salad sandwiches, bluegrass music, cigars, socializing and fundraising fun. The event’s spokesman Michael Briggs broke it down: “We used 125 bushels and 55 gallons of oysters, 225 dozen eggs, 1,800 hot dogs and 32 barrels of beverages.”
