A recent virtual “Justice for All” panel discussion focused on remembering the names of those who died during encounters with police, as a push for greater law enforcement accountability continues in Delaware and nationwide. “We heard from (families) who live with the excruciating pain of losing a loved one at the hands of police, and their powerful stories are just a small representation of the countless people who are hurt or killed by police every single day in America,” said the event’s moderator, Haneef Salaam, the manager of American Civil Liberties Union Delaware’s Campaign for Smart Justice.
- One day, maybe, there will be a panel discussion whose purpose will be to remember and seek justice for the victims of crime and for the thanking of the law enforcement officers who risk their lives daily for our citizens as they serve and protect. Then, there will be “justice for all.” — Dennis Kirkwood
- That’d be all good if they were actually out there to “serve and protect.” — Frank Williamson
- No one is “against law enforcement.” The police need to be held accountable for their actions just like everyone else. To deny that is “being against democracy.” Now, some want to live in a police state. — Tommy Bou
