Former State Auditor Kathy McGuiness filed suit against Attorney General Kathy Jennings and other law enforcement officials Tuesday, citing claims of constitutional violations and slander stemming from criminal charges that led to her resignation from office last fall.
Ms. McGuiness was defeated by Lydia York in September 2022’s Democratic primary for the auditor’s seat, following months of scrutiny tied to the court case, in which the incumbent was found guilty of conflict of interest, structuring as noncompliance with procurement law and official misconduct — all misdemeanors.
The structuring charge was dismissed last August, and appeals filed by Ms. McGuiness related to the remaining counts are under consideration in Delaware Supreme Court.
