Speak Up: Firefly Music Festival eyes return in September
Posted
It appears there will be a Firefly Music Festival this year. The Dover-based event posted on its website Monday morning new dates for 2021. They are Sept. 23-26 at the Woodlands of Dover International Speedway.
This is wrong on so many levels! Hospitals will not allow family members in, to either welcome a life or say goodbye to a loved one! My mother is 80. I can’t go into her doctor’s appointment to hear an update! Instead, I have to call and leave a message and wait four to seven days for a callback! But oh, silly me! I forgot music and Dover Downs are way more important right now! Open up the state of Delaware! — Kelly Madison
I don’t know why y’all are mad. — Karla Beatriz Martínez Marzán
Best place to be is outside. — Betsy Schrack
Sad part is, if she was in prison, you could visit her. — David Lepter
OK, so let’s not get crazy. I’m still wearing a mask and social distancing. The Woodlands is big enough for me to enjoy and stay away from y’all. — Jeff Day
You do know the vaccines are marketed to hopefully prevent fully vaccinated individuals from developing “severe symptoms” and overwhelming the medical community. None of the “emergency use” vaccines have been documented to prevent anyone from being infected or, if infected, spreading the virus to others. That is why all recommendations remain: Sanitize, mask, restrict activities outside the home to “necessary” and avoid large groups. — Victoria M. Olds
Green Day came out too early with their song. I hope they headline this year. “Don’t want to be an American idiot. One nation controlled by the media. Information age of hysteria. It’s calling out to idiot America.” — Beth Gallagher
Dover Downs could not care less about the health of Doverites. Their declining casino is all that matters to them. — Ronnie Ponde
But we still can’t open our schools. Seems like it’s more about revenue than safety. We seemed to stop following science a while ago. Don’t get me wrong: I love Firefly and am glad it’s coming back. I just wish the government could get its priorities straight. — Nichole Gallaher-Whitby
Wonderful news! It’s refreshing to see people enjoying life again. — Rob Holley
