Speak Up: Dover City Council passes budget after three-day talk

Posted

City Council convened the week of May 27 to discuss the forthcoming budget, which passed 6-3 after three days of debate and resulted in an increase in property taxes.

  • Just passed the buck to people who are having a hard time as it is! Ridiculous. — Danree Fjelsted Heath
  • They raised my property taxes, too, even though we are outside Dover. Bull crap. We live under a fixed-income budget. — Kevin Roe
  • I don’t care how they try and justify a property tax increase, whether it is 3 cents or 2 cents. It is going to hurt us taxpayers in the wallets and pocketbooks. It’s just wrong they voted to pass this budget. It hurts the senior citizens and blue collar workers who just make ends meet and are struggling in this economy. We need to vote these council representatives out of office next year. It’s all about taxing and spending with these city politicians. — Ruth Hamilton
