Speak Up: Delaware to adopt zero-emission vehicle regulations capped at 82% in 2032

Posted

Delaware will adopt California’s Advanced Clean Car II regulations to aid its greenhouse gas reduction goals, though the zero-emission vehicle availability requirement will be capped at 82% in model year 2032, officials announced Nov. 29.

  • Already seeing a lot of Delaware students/parents drive up in electric vehicles. Love it! Compared to all the Delaware-tagged Jeeps, Ford and Dodge trucks, and BMWs I see on the road, the prices are right in line. So glad this is coming. Exciting. — Delaware Guitar School
  • The prices are in line because gas vehicles are through the roof! The prices of trucks have almost doubled! Very sad when you need to buy a truck for your job! — Kelly Moran
  • Totally agree about the prices being through the roof. And a lot of people aren’t buying them just for their job either. Apparently, we have the money to spend on expensive vehicles after all. Yeah, I’m definitely going electric on the next one. — Delaware Guitar School
  • I’m picturing a little boy with his finger in a dike, trying desperately and empathetically to hold out on the inevitable. Move over to the side of the road and do your grumbling over there because we’re rolling through with electric cars. — Delaware Guitar School
  • This is the dumbest crap ever. When are they going to figure out this is unsustainable? — Lucy Messick
  • How does this even work? You won’t let people buy the type of car they want once you hit your 82%? Sounds like a nightmare. How about you stay out of our buying decisions and do some actual good for the people of Delaware? Have you had a peek at our crime rates? — April Ellis Callaway
  • Wonder how people who rent will be able to charge their vehicles, since most property managers wouldn’t allow charging stations to be installed? Also, for those of us who aren’t buying into the electric vehicle madness, we can just go out of state to buy a gas vehicle, which will only hurt Delaware car dealers. Finally, Uncle Joe Biden keeps cutting our electric generation options, so how will the grid handle all these additional EVs being plugged in? Rolling brownouts, anyone? — Mark Garrett
  • Unattainable and way too restrictive. — Fred Willey
  • And we’re following the California model. Whenever you hear “California model,” it means it’s just something that is liberal lunacy, from gun control to taxes to environmentalism. We have to follow these stupid models and get screwed over it. Next is the ban on gas stoves, I suppose. California is a disaster. Did you all see the debate between Gavin Newsom and Ron DeSantis? Nothing in California is great anymore. People are running away from the state. Taxes are too high. Housing is too high. But the liberals and the elites love it there. They don’t care; they just want total control. Hopefully, this bad policy can be defeated in Delaware by people standing up and in voting next year. — Killian Terry
  • They pushed these electric blunders on the public. The public isn’t buying it. High cost of repairs. Replacement batteries cost more than the car did, and a recent survey shows they are less reliable than the gas vehicles. Sorry, I’m not buying any electric vehicles until they bring the price down and show they are reliable. — Vincent Deskiewicz
  • What about all the out-of-state people that come and travel through Delaware? We don’t have the electric grid, and with not getting the wind turbines, it will be not enough electric. — Ronald Kline
  • Not happening. — Christina Marie
  • Unobtainable. — Bee Shellz
  • Given the fact that most Delaware residents can’t afford electric cars, yeah. — Trinity Lopez
  • I wonder if, someday, liberals will stand around and try to figure out how we arrived at such a place. I watched an interview last night with a big-time car dealer that can’t sell electric vehicles and wants the government to stop the mandates. This is going to be another disaster for Democrats. — Bob Hice
  • What a joke! That’s unattainable! The Democrats are going to bankrupt and destroy the country! You do realize that the minerals being mined are destroying millions of acres of land in other countries. By the way, they’re usually using kids to get the minerals. The old batteries will be put into the ground and leaching into fields that, if birds or any other animals go near them, they will die! Along with the millions of birds killed by the wind turbines, which also need hundreds of gallons of oil to run every year. Then, when they need to be replaced, they put them in the ground because they can’t be recycled. Great idea! America now has less emissions than most of the world! — Kelly Moran
