As Delaware’s recreational marijuana market continues to stall, state lawmakers are advancing legislation to limit counties’ restrictions on the locations of such businesses. Senate Bill 75 follows ordinances by New Castle and Sussex counties, in which the latter has effectively enacted a near-ban on cannabis retailers.

Trey Paradee, maybe there are bans and moratoriums on the weed industry because not as many communities — leaders, residents and citizens of the counties — want this type of business within their boundaries. It’s kind of like, if an asphalt plant wanted to open up in these areas, then not very many people would support that either, I bet. Why will you not address the state’s obvious spending problems with the passion and vigor you have put into the weed industry? Hmm. Will you be benefiting from the weed industry? — Mike Marasco
