The Delaware Division of Public Health has identified 302 “breakthrough cases” of COVID-19 in the state as of last Friday. These are cases in which an individual tests positive for the virus 14 or more days after the last dose in their vaccine series. The figure of 302 represents just 0.07% of all persons who have been fully vaccinated in Delaware. Of the 302 breakthrough cases, 191 received the Pfizer vaccine, 64 received Moderna and 47 were administered with the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The DPH said seven of these 302 fully vaccinated individuals were hospitalized after testing positive. There is still only one COVID-19-related death from a breakthrough case, which was originally announced April 13 by DPH director Dr. Karyl Rattay.
