Speak Up: Delaware records first flu death of 2021-22

Delaware recorded its first flu-related death of the season, as the virus continues its recent increase in transmission. The Delaware Division of Public Health said the death was a 54-year-old Kent County woman and occurred in early April. She had underlying health conditions and was not vaccinated against the flu, according to DPH.

Paid family and medical leave bill passes in Delaware House and Senate

Legislation to provide Delaware workers with paid family and medical leave passed in the House of Representatives and Senate chambers recently. Senate Substitution 2 to Senate Bill 1, or the Healthy Delaware Families Act, would provide eligible Delaware workers with up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave a year and up to six weeks of paid caregiving leave, paid medical leave or paid military leave every two years once implemented.
