Speak Up: Delaware increasing number of COVID test kits

Posted

With the holidays in full swing, the Delaware Division of Public Health increased the availability of COVID-19 testing kits, especially at its Curative Inc. sites, due to large demand. DPH said Curative did 50% more tests prior to Christmas.

  • I am appalled at the lack of masks everywhere I go in the Rehoboth Beach-Lewes area. People even tell me, “Oh, you don’t need a mask here,” as I stand in line for a bagel. My response was not kind. The government has capitulated its responsibility because it is too inconvenient to lock down again. What nonsense! Young people are perhaps the worst spreaders of COVID, and I mean teens and 20-somethings. Masks should be mandatory for all stores and public indoor spaces. The rudeness and uncaring self-centeredness of those who refuse not only masks but also the vaccine is criminal. Let’s call it as it really is: Religion, a warped sense of the First Amendment and a narcissistic adolescent aversion about being told what to do with the “don’t tread on me” people is why we are here now, with full hospitals and overworked hospital workers. This is the further unraveling of a healthy democracy and a civil society. — Ronnie Nicholls
  • Instead of testing, with all the false positives and negatives, how ’bout getting more treatment for those that are sick instead? It’s said that there isn’t enough of a supply of monoclonal antibody therapy and other treatment medications, so let’s spend the money on those instead! This is amazingly void of common sense! — Diane Ivey
