Speak Up: Carney says more vaccinations in Delaware are key to not going backward

Posted

As Delaware continues to experience a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, Gov. John Carney called on those who are not vaccinated to receive their shots to prevent the state from going backward. “Those folks who are unvaccinated are prolonging the pandemic,” Gov. Carney said during a COVID-19 press briefing Thursday. “They are bringing us to a place where we have to reconsider mitigation efforts.” Gov. Carney’s state of emergency order ended July 13, but Delaware’s COVID-19 statistics are currently the highest they have been in months.

Capital One donates Wilmington building to DSU

Delaware State University is returning to Wilmington in a big way this coming semester.

DSU President Dr. Tony Allen said the new site will take on many of the same programs as the Kirkwood Highway facility but now in a more accessible location in Wilmington. Undergraduate students at the main campus in Dover also will benefit from the enhanced partnership, having access to a more direct pipeline to Capital One jobs and internships.

  • Probably, though it was because the banks are becoming increasingly automated, and they decided they could cut a branch to increase profits for the year. — Pete Schonert
