Speak Up: Bidens help celebrate commission of USS Delaware

Posted

First lady Jill Biden and President Joe Biden joined Delaware legislators and U.S. Navy officials at the Port of Wilmington recently for the ceremonial commissioning of the USS Delaware SSN 791. It’s been 110 years since a U.S. Navy ship has been named Delaware, and the USS Delaware, a Virginia-Class Fast Attack nuclear submarine, is the seventh ship so named in the Navy’s history. There are 16 others that have been named after Delaware cities, places and people, for a total of 23 that represent the First State. This ship in particular is also the first to be commissioned while underwater and underway.

  • What kind of car did he and all of his escorts drive to this ceremony? Can that new sub run on solar power? Also, the previous administration did not respect the military. And many Republicans just voted no on a veteran bill. — Dennis Kirkwood
  • It’s nuclear. Which means it doesn’t burn oil or anything like that. We should have many, many more power plants that are nuclear. — Dale Bert
  • Seems like some of you are mad because he’s not out golfing on a Saturday. — Gary Greer
