Speak Up: Best of the State Fair

Posted

Along with concerts, comedians, harness racing and a demolition derby, the Delaware State Fair included 10 days of entertainment, such as street mural artist ARCY; camels, clowns and acrobats in Circus Hollywood, Mythi Creatures and Robot Rangers; and seven buildings full of exhibits, produce, science and art. Which did you include in your visit to the fair?

  • Concerts! — Jennifer Scribner
  • The animals. — George Hall
  • Demo derby! Always fantastic! — Vincent Deskiewicz
  • Pig race. — Shelly Dorman Towers
  • I like to look at all the exhibits. And, of course, get a root beer snow cone from Collins Root Beer! — Jennifer Lawson
  • Demo derby. — Brian Hill
  • We have been attending for 40-plus years. We love all the exhibits in the Dover Building. I used to compete in veggies from the Garden and Culinary departments. Seeing the hard work by the 4-H children is so magical. Hubby and I always get a Collins Root Beer. Delicious. The parade. The tractors, old and new. All the livestock competition. Food, food, food. What else? But we just enjoy it. And we always support the Grange and their fried chicken. Delicious. — Denise Sloboda Deskiewicz
  • Memories! — Jeanette Bell
  • When it leaves town. — Neil Gallagher
  • Some great concerts, but I don’t go anymore. It’s always sweltering. Gave away tickets once because it was just way too hot to even go. — Janet Vance Stolp
  • Farm equipment. — Diane Butters-Eastburn
  • Remember when opening day used to be free for families? — Bob Hice
  • Yes, indeed, and should still be that way! — Lisa White
