Speak Up: Attendees of Weedstock high on marijuana legalization

Posted

Enthusiasts and advocates alike came to Townsend on Friday and Saturday for the annual Weedstock festival. However, the two-day event wasn’t just about getting high. Previously hosted by Delaware NORML, a cannabis advocacy group, Weedstock has become its own organization with sponsorship partners. Held at Firebase Lloyd, home to the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, the weekend featured music, food trucks and vendors selling marijuana-related merchandise.

  • I can’t recall a raid for pot in Delaware. The drug houses destroying our neighborhoods are using hardcore drugs, the fentanyl poison from China. And gunplay to protect the empire turf killing our youth and others hurt deeply those around. Please don’t pretend that people who are destroying our neighborhoods are hurting no one. — David Anderson
  • Maybe they can have a workfest. — Donald Stratman
  • OK, Karen. — Steve White
  • Read to the bottom. “Weedstock showcased many potential business opportunities should recreational cannabis use be legalized in Delaware.” Most people who smoke actually do work, by the way, no different than folks who drink when not at work. I don’t know a medical card carrier who doesn’t work, with exception of a few who are legitimately disabled and can’t. You’re judging people based on old drug war propaganda. It’s been shown to help severe neurological disorders. Open your mind a little, man. You’d rather people suffer on medications that don’t do anything for them? That’s just cruel and inhumane. — Nikole Arnold
  • You are correct. My apologies. — Donald Stratman
