Speak Up: Answer to question on viewing wildlife

Posted

After public input, new elevated wildlife-viewing structures have been built by the state’s Division of Fish & Wildlife at Augustine Wildlife Area and Little Creek Wildlife Area, with more planned near Bowers Beach and Milford. These recreational opportunities join a saltmarsh boardwalk trail at Woodland Beach Wildlife Area, a deck at the DuPont Nature Center and Assawoman Wildlife Area’s observation tower. Where is your favorite Delaware location to view landscape and wildlife?

  • Without a doubt, my favorite place is Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. I encourage everyone to try this easy, drive-thru preserve. Stay in your car if you want or walk the many trails if you want. There is currently an eagles’ nest on-site, but it sits back a little bit. Bring binoculars! Blue heron, egrets are not shy, and you can get great pictures. Take the kids! — Stan Sipple
  • Here in Bowers. — Sandy McDermott Lewis
