Singh: Tax increase forced the sale of smoke shop

Posted

I had two cigarette stores. One was on Dupont Highway in New Castle and the other on Ridge Road in Claymont. After the last tax increase, the impact was so bad that I had to sell the smoke shop in New Castle. Since then, that business has changed ownership twice, and it is still doing badly.

When Democrats rant about health issues and increases in revenue, it is all lies. I used to do $11 million in revenue from both the stores, and now, I am down to $1.5 million. Democrats should figure out where the extra revenue is.

And now, as for health issues, 92% of my customers are out-of-state, so we can say it is bad to smoke, but in reality, their health issues do not affect Delaware at all. Poor financial management by the Democrats is the main reason for what is happening in Delaware.
