Sussex residents receive scholarships

Posted

LEWES — Gracie Brewster of Selbyville, Alexis Porohnavi of Georgetown, Marisol Isabelle Azar of Millsboro and Reagan Hockenbrock of Selbyville have been awarded scholarships to Beebe Healthcare’s Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing.

The funding is available to residents of Sussex County pursuing postsecondary education in the field of nursing or teaching.

The scholarships are developed via the Irene P. Sorbara Charitable Foundation, established to honor a 30-year elementary school teacher who was born in Lewes in 1938 and died in 2007.

The foundation’s board of governors determines which institution will receive the annual awards, and the school chooses the recipients, who must be eligible for a student loan and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The funds can be used for tuition and costs directly related to school expenses.
