Four pins helped carry the Polytech High wrestling team to a 42-24 victory over Delaware Military Academy on Friday afternoon.

Noah Deneumoustier (132 pounds), Curtis Evans (138), Derrick DiNuova (152) and Justin Land (195) won their matches via pin. Jaden McCove had a tech-fall victory at 160 pounds while Austin Price (106) won by a major decision.

Iosif Drane (126), Matthew Land (145) and Avery Mayan (170) all recorded decisions in their victories.

Lake Forest 40. Indian River 36: Trevon Hardeman (195),  Tony Williams (220) and Jordan Springer (285) all earned pins in the final three matches of the night as the Spartans completed a comeback for a Henlopen Conference Southern Division victory.

Justin Cale (138) and Grant Ford (152) also had pins for Lake Forest.

Boys’ basketball

St. Mark’s 44, Sussex Central 31: The Golden Knights led after the first quarter but St. Mark’s used a 13-4 run in the third quarter to pull away.

Women’s basketball

Delaware 63, College of Charleston 47: Tied going into the fourth quarter, Delaware held the College of Charleston to just one field goal and five points en route to a victory over the Cougars at TD Arena Friday evening.

Senior Courtni Green led the Blue Hens (8-7, 3-1 CAA) with 16 points with four 3-pointers to go along with five rebounds. With her four baskets from behind the arc, Green now has 154 career treys, a mark good to tie for third in program history alongside Megan Dellegrotti (1998-02).

Classmate Jodi Salyer dished out six assists in addition to registering five points, four rebounds and three steals.

Delaware also saw huge games from freshmen Nicole Enabosi and Hannah Friend, each of which came up with eight points. Enabosi recorded a game-best 12 rebounds while Friend collected seven rebounds and three blocks.

The Hens, who had 31 rebounds in the first half, finished the game by outrebounding the Cougars, 52-38.

Bre Bolden notched a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds for Charleston (5-10, 0-4 CAA) while Jackie Luna-Castro picked up 15 points and three blocks.

“We’ve talked a lot about resiliency and bouncing back,” said UD coach Tina Martin. “Obviously Charleston is a tough team and they’re not going to lie down for us. They have some outstanding players who can shoot the basketball and they’re hungry for a win. We did a number on the boards, which was crucial.  This was a great win on the road.”
