Millsboro post’s Memorial Day salute is patriotic art

Posted

MILLSBORO — It’s visible from John J. Williams Highway, but a bird’s-eye view is its best angle.

American Legion Post 28 is showcasing its patriotism this Memorial Day with a large, colorful portrayal of Old Glory painted on its grounds, bordering Del. 24 and Legion Road, east of town.

The flag measures 26 feet by 50 feet.

Unit 28 Auxiliary member Beth McGinn called it “a labor of love accomplished by six people” — Paul Mangini, Tom Schultz, Katie McGinn, Jim McGinn, Judy Mangini and herself.

“A lot of planning and angst went into it,” she added. “We wanted to do something different this year for Memorial Day.”

On Monday, Post 28 will host its Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m.
