Polytech’s Mendez awarded Rotary Club scholarship

Posted

DOVER — The Dover Downtown Rotary Club has presented 2023 Polytech High School graduate Hannah Mendez its $1,000 Interact Scholarship.

Ms. Mendez studied to be a medical assistant, served as the Interact Club’s treasurer and helped with service projects. She will be attending the University of Delaware this fall, majoring in biology.

Interact Scholarships are presented each year to active students involved with their local Rotary Clubs.

The purpose of the Interact Club is to bring individuals ages 12-18 together to develop leadership skills and discover the power of service above self.

Rotary is one of the largest assistance organizations in the world, with a mission to “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders,” a news release said.

The Dover Downtown group focuses primarily on the downtown community, both financially and through service projects. It meets each Monday at noon at The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille in Dover.
