Polytech High School celebrates with commencement ceremony

WOODSIDE – The weather did not stop the Panthers from celebrating their hard work during their high school journey.

Polytech High School held its annual commencement ceremony June 7 at the Jeff Adams Stadium after having to delay the ceremony a day for inclement weather.

The Class of 2024 had 281 students who received their diplomas Friday night. After the students were seated and principal George Fisher welcomed guests to the event, the valedictorian and salutatorian were introduced.

The salutatory address was given by Elizabeth Talamini-Kelemen.

“With all the bad days I had came so many more good ones and amazing people I’m not ready to give up just yet,” said Elizabeth.

Molly Kenney followed with the valedictory address. She described her high school journey as a chapter in the book of her life that will always hold a lot of significance.

“I cannot go back in time and do it all over again,” said Molly. “Instead, we must focus on the chapter in our story that comes next.”

After the speeches, the seniors were presented their diplomas as they were called onto the stage.

The senior class president, Nyah Hollingsworth, led her class in the turning of the tassels from right to left to signify that they officially graduated from high school.
