Police seek info on who was behind bomb threats
DOVER — No bombs were detected Monday and law enforcement is seeking tips after various agencies responded to a slew of threats received by schools throughout the state Monday morning, authorities said.
Dover, Caesar Rodney and Indian River high schools were all affected by incidents, police said, along with Seaford Middle School, Smyrna Elementary School and H.B. duPont Middle School in Hockessin.
The Milford Police Department also investigated within their district.
According to state police, between 9:30 and 10 a.m., a robotic style or computer-generated voice phone call was received in each school’s office. Students were evacuated from their schools and administrative searches were conducted along with the use of state police K-9s, authorities reported.
After the searches, evacuated students and staff returned to their schools and resumed daily activities, police said. Evacuations ranged from 45 minutes to three hours.
State police asked anyone with information to contact Youth Aid Divisions at Troop 2, (302) 834-2620, Troop 3, (302) 697-4454 or Troop 4, (302) 856-5850.
