HARRINGTON – The biggest night of the year for any market animal showman at the Delaware State Fair took place Tuesday evening.

The Livestock Extravaganza is the night where the grand and reserve market champions are selected for each of the market species.

In the beef cattle division, Catherine Maguire won grand champion with her steer. The reserve champion was James Tucker.

The market goats were next to enter the ring. Mack Lawson was the grand champion followed by Brynlee Krietz.

Following the goats, the market lambs entered took center stage. Mason Hay was selected as the grand champion. Ryleigh Stubbs was awarded the reserve champion with her lamb.

The last species to enter the ring was the market hogs. Mason Hay continued his success by winning the grand champion market hog award. Brayden Hearn followed up with reserve champion.

The final event of the night was to select the Grand Overall Showman of all the species at the Delaware State Fair. This is a round-robin event where the grand champion showman of each species competes by showing the four different species and the judges score them.

Riley Ridgley represented the beef cattle department, Alexiana Hay represented the sheep department, Kassidy Hearn represented the goat department and Mason Hay represented the swine department.

The three judges watched the four champions show the four species of market animals and tallied up their scores.

Mason Hay was awarded the Overall Showman Award. This is his third consecutive year taking the title.

All of the animals that made it to the Livestock Extravaganza will be sold in the Junior Livestock Auction on Thursday night.
