Letter to the Editor: Writer says neither Biden nor Trump suitable for presidency

Posted

Amazing! Since Ron DeSantis threw his hat in the ring, and only since then, Donald Trump has discovered that Florida is mismanaged. The former president, a name-calling playground bully, denounces his rival as “DeSanctimonious” — a clever repartee if you were 12. Imagine if, instead, Donald Trump put on his “big boy” pants and welcomed DeSantis to the race — thanking him for giving Republican primary voters a “choice” and an opportunity to hear the issues debated. Of course, then he wouldn’t be Donald Trump.

Joe Biden gave a graduation speech at Howard University, where he singled out White racism and violence. When overt racism was “in,” however, Sen. Biden was surprisingly close with dangerously bigoted Southerners like James Eastland, a Mississippi Democrat who opposed anti-lynching laws. Biden said Eastland was just a friend — I would not have such a friend. In addition, Biden said he opposed school busing because it would force his young boys to go to school in the “racial jungle.” Imagine if he had confessed for his past and denounced all violence, White and Black. Then, he could unite us, as he promised to do when he was elected. But, of course, then he wouldn’t be Joe Biden.

Now, back to the other hideous candidate. Before his trial, Donald Trump was shown pictures of E. Jean Carroll. He misidentified her as a former wife. When “the Donald” was told that the blond in the picture was Jean Carroll, his accuser, he denied ever meeting her and said he would not have raped her because “she’s not (his) type.” Despicable. P.S.: If reelected, Trump would not be the first alleged sex abuser as president, but he would be the first court-certified one. Shouldn’t we be proud?

Hunter Biden reportedly cut off health insurance for his mistress before she gave birth, raising questions to his concern for a safe delivery for his (DNA-confirmed) daughter. Neither Hunter nor Joe Biden has ever seen this child! Summing up, the president continues ignoring a flesh-and-blood grandchild, who, through no fault of her own, was born of his son, an increasingly obvious bad excuse for a father. Joe Biden has repeatedly argued that Hunter “has done nothing wrong.” Monstrous.

Both candidates have demonstrated characteristics that many Americans would not welcome to their own kitchen tables, no less the White House. I sincerely believe that, if you were to take a telephone book — you remember telephone books — within the first 100 listings, you would find people who would be better presidents than either of these two men. Biden and Trump are both world-class liars, and both have cheapened our national discourse and cavalierly broken the law. It is an embarrassment that either would be chosen to represent America to the world.

Survey after survey has found that the American people, Republicans and Democrats alike, want other choices on the ballot. Unfortunately, both parties are set to ignore the will of the people and pursue an even more horrible rematch and election travesty — because now, we know them.

Knowing that most Democrats demand someone else, that party wants to have its first primary in South Carolina. In Iowa and New Hampshire, candidates must go around and meet the people, demonstrating humanity and competence. I believe Joe Biden can do neither. In South Carolina, face-to-face campaigning is not as much a tradition, so Joe can stay in his basement, avoid gaffes and embarrassing senile moments, and rely instead on professionally manufactured commercials.

Knowing that many Republicans want someone else, Trump and his advisers will encourage scores of minor candidates to enter the race. With a dozen or more candidates, the Donald can squeak through the primaries with a bare plurality. Hey, it’s worked before.

In the animal kingdom, the smartest and best are chosen to lead the pack. Obviously, this is not so among humans.

Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden, for far more reasons than I have noted, are totally unfit for any office. It is time the two-party organizations demonstrate that they are patriots who can rise to the occasion, offer quality candidates and avoid the stench of a rematch that promises to be a national disgrace.
