Letter to the Editor: Writer ignores pain and devastation of COVID

Posted

People like John Gondeck never fail to amaze me (“What is our government up to?” Aug. 10).

When he writes, “During 2020, the first year of the pandemic, there were (sic) a total of 2,913,146, just 57,641 more deaths than the previous year,” it is clear that he didn’t lose anyone close. Let him explain the word “just” to a grieving family, a widow or a parent. He uses statistics to attempt to make a ludicrous political point, completely ignoring any pain and devastation COVID-19 has caused.

Then, he makes a comparison to Adolf Hitler and children turning in their parents. QAnon must eat at Mr. Gondeck’s table, advising him on the latest garbage talking points. The shame lies with him, not with voting Americans, who overwhelmingly approved an end to the lying, fear, pettiness, bullying, division and stupidity that ran the country from 2016 until it was soundly rejected Nov. 3, 2020.
