Letter to the editor: Writer commends Levy Court candidate

Posted

Editor’s note: After reviewing election-related Opinion submissions, the Delaware State News found that two letters had been received but overlooked for publication prior to the seven-day preelection pause on endorsement and candidate letters. One is published below.

I want to go on record as endorsing Jeff Hall for the office of Kent County Levy Court commissioner for the 2nd District.

Jeff has worked effectively as our commissioner for the homeless community in Dover and the surrounding areas during his years in office. It is a serious situation, and his advocacy for new funding for organizations helping this community has been greatly appreciated. He supported county Community Service Grants, as well as ensured that nonprofit organizations, such as the Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing and Code Purple, received supplemental funds through the county and federal American Rescue Plan Act funds. His interest and support began before his election, attending Dover’s Mayor’s Task Force to End Homelessness to understand the complexities of the issue and possible solutions.

This is a personal rather than a political endorsement. Jeff has proven to represent a combination of compassion and effectiveness. We all benefit from his concern for attention to local issues and his commitment to following through on areas of broad concern to the community.

Jeff is a true public servant whose interests are the overall well-being and prosperity of Kent County. He merits our votes.
