Letter to the Editor: Why many audiophiles prefer vinyl

Posted

To take a dive deeper into the topic of vinyl records (“Writer is digging the return to vinyl,” Dec. 30): Vinyl records give the listener the original sounds of how they were recorded. It was a nostalgic sound, not like the digitally enhanced sound of CDs.

As a DJ, I co-hosted a Saturday morning radio show on WCTR in Chestertown, Maryland, for over three years. We used vinyl records from my collection. All original recordings. And we advertised our show as such.

I continue to put on live shows, using only vinyl. The people often comment on the sound and clearness of the recordings.

My specialty that I play is the music of the ’50s and early ’60s. My music collection ends just as the English groups invaded us.

The audiences are amazed to see the vinyl spin on a turntable.
