When will the insanity end?
It seems that if a candidate is unable to win an election fairly and squarely, the political party that loses will try to change the laws, so its candidate(s) stand a better chance of winning in the future. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, “As of May 14, 2021, legislators have introduced 389 bills with restrictive provisions in 48 states. Twenty-two bills with restrictive provisions have already been enacted.”
How on Earth can a democracy, which my family members have fought and died for, tamper with our right to vote?
Many have lost their lives to safeguard the privileges and rights of our democracy. Are outrageous actions like obstructing a citizen’s right to vote simply OK? Did my family members and all those who fought in wars die for nothing?
The United States has not been this divided since the Civil War. A country divided is a weak nation. The most effective way to destroy a nation is from within. The last administration systematically divided the people of our country, much to the glee of those nations who will benefit from a faltering democracy. Being a democracy, including the right to vote into office the candidate of our choice without obstruction, is what has made America great. It is imperative that we, as citizens of our nation, work together to keep our country strong and impenetrable to those who may wish us harm.
We are all Americans, and only united will we stand. We are so preoccupied with infighting, we are losing sight of the real threats. The enemy is not within. We must stop this nonsense and come together in strength as a united people. Wake up, America!
