Veterans Services supports the election of former Kent County Sheriff Brian Lewis to the Dover City Council 2nd District.
Mr. Lewis is a friend to all veterans, especially to those who suffer the consequences of war. Too many of us warriors returned to our communities with scars, both seen and unseen. For those who have difficulties adjusting, Mr. Lewis has taken the time to meet with veterans, so they can get the help they earned.
Veterans’ homelessness is a problem across the city of Dover, including City Council 2nd District. Mr. Lewis has been active in his church, helping to ensure that veterans have a warm place to rest during the cold of night. Mr. Lewis has personally handed out blankets, served in food pantries and made sure that vets have a place to clean up, with clean clothes to put on.
This endorsement for Mr. Lewis is the first time that Veterans Services has endorsed anyone for Dover City Council. We never thought that politicians took seriously their duty to ensure that the public is included within public office. This is an opportunity for veterans to make sure that a public servant of compassion and dedication will serve veterans of the 2nd District. Mr. Lewis is a soldier who will fight for us in the Dover City Council.
For this reason, we endorse the election of Brian Lewis for election to the 2nd District.
