Letter to the Editor: The first 100 catastrophic days of a new president

Posted

If one believes in the continuous praise voiced by the mainstream media and the glowing report given by Hillary Clinton, President Joe Biden’s first 100 days have been absolutely what our country needed after the disastrous presidency of Donald Trump.

Forget that we have a national security and humanitarian crisis at the turnstile we call the border, that the American Federation of Teachers union is providing guidance to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the pandemic, that Joe’s education secretary is promoting the teaching of critical race theory and The 1619 Project, that he has outlined $6 trillion of spending that is really the Green New Deal masked in camouflaged language — we are now seeing “help wanted” signs (going unfilled) everywhere, and inflation has started to rear its ugly head.

At last count, we were spending $60 million a week to house, feed, clothe, provide medical services and educate the illegal aliens who are flooding across our southern border. What happens to all those people? They will be transported (and already are) all across the country, which will further strain the already stretched social service and educational systems of many communities. The number we really need to know, but don’t, is how many illegals are crossing the border who are not apprehended. Who is in that group? What are their motivations?

Our K-12 education system has been allocated over $190 billion from the rescue plans, and pushed to the front of the line to get vaccinated, and yet, all our schools are not open. I heard one of Biden’s senior advisers say she wasn’t sure if the schools would be open in September! To add insult to injury, the teachers union is providing guidance to the CDC reference the pandemic.

All during the campaign and in his inaugural address, Biden promised unity. In reality, his first 100 days have been more supportive and encouraging of the racial distrust and disharmony began during the Obama era. It makes me believe Joe’s idea of unity is to unify the Democratic party to then destroy our democratic republic.

Joe’s $6 trillion spending proposal is outlined in the American Rescue Plan, the American Families Plan and the American Jobs Plan. The news media fawns over Joe’s empathy for all of us, but in reality, this puppet of a president is destroying this great nation of ours by emphasizing that free government money is your only chance of being successful. Is that success or independence? Does he mean “dependence”?

Reports are now surfacing that, as the country opens up, employers are having a hard time hiring people. We are a nation of proud workers. With all the free-flowing government unemployment money, it’s becoming apparent that many people would rather sit home and collect unemployment than work.

Don’t be fooled by those who champion Joe’s empathy or by his soft and heart-tugging comments when he says that what he’s doing is good for all Americans. Joe is the consummate Washington insider. The only words he knows are, “Trust me, I am fighting for a better life for you.” Garbage. He is fighting for a better life for those who sit atop our political elite structure.

The first signs of inflation are here, and unless Janet Yellen and Jerome Powell are extremely careful with current monetary policy, inflation will become a runaway train. I believe they both know that if much of the president’s current $6 trillion in recommended spending becomes law, they are going to be forced to raise interest rates. The question then becomes, how high to raise the rates and for how long?

Unless we, the people, start electing real Americans to our local school boards, statehouses and the federal government, this country is lost.

Remember that Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester and Sens. Chris Coons and Tom Carper, all D-Del., are strong supporters of President Biden and fully support the radical ideas of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and the far left.
