Letter to the Editor: Sussex County’s lack of public facilities is a health and quality-of-life issue

Posted

I recently tried to make a urology appointment. First open appointment is April 2023?

Then, I tried another medical appointment. March 2023?

This is typical here in Sussex County, and it forces many to visit overcrowded Beebe emergency rooms, where waiting periods frequently exceed five hours. Patients lined up in cold, dank hallways due to room shortages.

Something must be done. Now!

We need the adoption of an adequate public facilities ordinance like New Castle, Kent and many other counties have, ameliorating these and other serious health and quality-of-life issues.

Enough is enough. We are many medically needy, taxpaying senior residents who deserve better from our elected officials.
