Unfortunately, there seems to be no single approach to prevent gun violence at our schools. I agree with Mr. Stan Lakey’s suggestions for increasing security of our school buildings (“Gun control shouldn’t be the first step to prevent school shootings,” June 18). I respectfully disagree with his title assessment.
Increasing security of our school buildings with better locks and more/better trained security personnel, as he suggests, should be the last line of protection for our schoolchildren, staff and security personnel.
It makes more sense to stop a potential criminal at the nearest gun shop than at the front door of a school.
