I read Karen Peterson’s commentary in the Delaware State News on Feb. 2, 2023 (“State retirees only ask for fairness regarding benefits”). Ms. Peterson hit the information right on in her article. All state retirees should take an interest and get involved, for we are the losers in this situation. Send letters, emails, etc., to your legislators. We must stand together.
She also stated in her comments that there was a “kickback” provision, allowing Highmark to split its profits with the state. Is this legal?
If you want to follow the committee’s ongoing meetings, go to the state website, then to the Department of Finance, and there you will find the Retirement Benefit Study Committee and all of the minutes and the committee members.
