Letter to the Editor: Reader questions fairness of student loan bailout

Posted

Many people who took out student loans to finance their educations will not be required to repay what could be hundreds of billions of dollars owed to the taxpayers. Yet, those with government-backed mortgages (Federal Housing Administration) used to buy homes are still expected to make their payments. Businesses with Small Business Administration loans must repay them in full.

How is this fair? Where are the equality warriors?

Do the president and the bureaucrats really have the authority to decide who has to repay the taxpayers for the funds borrowed from them and who does not? Why do we have a Congress?
