Letter to the Editor: Open borders cause problems

Posted

Without thought of malice, discrimination, racism or any other word in the vocabulary that would bring an uprising, open borders do cause problems for our country. The same could be said for any other country that left its borders open, except there are no others, just the good ol’ USA.

And yes, I am aware that our forefathers were immigrants, too, but many, many, many were humble and grateful enough to follow the protocol. During this pandemic especially, those border gates should have been closed, and they should remain so. But no, liberals thought that was discrimination rather than self-preservation.

Agreed, children should have never been separated from their parents, nor should anyone have been detained; instead, they should have been turned around politely and asked to come back in the correct way. Now, our new illustrious leader, in keeping with liberal protocol, has left the floodgates open and left America available to who knows what.

Problems raised with the influx of illegal immigrants not only pertain to the pandemic but to the overall economic health and safety of our own. But it seems to have been the case that America’s own are the least on the totem pole. We have homeless families, veterans, poverty-stricken families, hungry children — all for various reasons, but the cases are real none the less.

I personally have spoken with people who entered our country through the proper channels, and they, too, agree that illegal entry should be stopped. It should have been stopped years ago, but again, liberalism wins, and the voice of the people is silenced. No matter how you slice it, dice it, try to cover it up or explain it away, illegal entry is illegal; there is nothing right about it unless entry is necessary because of war, and asylum is warranted.

We don’t even need to build a wall, for Pete’s sake. Just let Border Patrol agents do their jobs, and when the illegals choose to come in the right way, they will be welcomed with open arms.
