Letter to the Editor: New legislation is about power, not gun control

Posted

With the introduction of this newest attempt at gun legislation, I would like to bring non-gun-related facts to the attention of Delaware’s lawmakers.

When I look at Delaware’s politicians, I realize a few of you are rich, at least compared to me. Some of you are wealthy. And I believe our newest politicians are hoping to someday become so.

What I don’t think you understand is you are Delaware politicians. You are small-state politicians. You aren’t Pelosi power politicians. You may occasionally sit at a Pelosi-type politicians’ table when your vote is needed. But mostly, you just clap when they tell you to, say what they tell you to, and you definitely vote how your Pelosi-type politicians command you to vote. But you aren’t really one of them. You never will be because Delaware is a small state.

In other words, you don’t have the generational power/money of a Pelosi politician.

I would hope Delaware politicians fully understand the reasons it was decided we needed a Second Amendment. If not, you should look into it. It’s important.

If you don’t do the right thing, you don’t have the power or the money for your children, grandchildren and their children to survive this any more than mine do. You don’t have generational power/money. You never will.

Your grandchildren and their children will be eating garbage and wear the same yoke of servitude as my offspring will because you voted away their right to fight the future Pelosi politicians.

To me, this has never been about gun violence; it’s about power and the keeping of it by the powerful.
