Having only 11 recorded cases of the flu statewide so far this season is a great side effect of all the steps taken to avoid COVID-19. Whether or not you agree with the government’s COVID-19 restrictions, two things are apparent.
First, the steps taken to control the spread of this disease work. The low flu numbers confirm this.
Secondly, it illustrates just how very easily COVID-19 spreads. With all the preventive steps taken that have quite effectively stopped flu transmission, the COVID-19 virus is still running rampant. And when these steps are ignored, as happened over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, COVID-19 cases soared.
This virus is still too new to know all its ill effects. I can’t get this vaccine soon enough. I’m still waiting, though.
