Would you like proof of the lies the Delaware Democrat government tells concerning equality (what they claim “equality” means)?
Regarding the Little Heaven underpass, aka the Bowers Beach underpass, at the intersection of Clapham Road, Bowers Beach Road and Del. 1: Drive the length of Del. 1 and you’ll find overpasses. One after another. Car dealerships have one; the sports complex got one. Even little Frederica got one. But right next to trailer parks and a small-house neighborhood, bestowed upon the little people … an underpass.
The Del. 1 traffic now passes above them, raining noise down upon the those who live there. It’s a din that has tripled, becoming a harsh discordance of sounds that penetrates double-paned windows in a relentless assault.
Where are the sound barriers for this project?
They could have moved this underpass down the road, where they are going to build some sort of business complex, but they didn’t. They plopped it down in the middle of this housing area as if these people don’t really matter. People are stuck in the trap of renting property for the houses they can afford, and then, the state makes their neighborhood a living hell. Children, elderly and the handicapped are subjected to noise pollution that disturbs the sleep and makes it impossible for them to open a window in the spring to enjoy a breeze, have a cookout and relax in the sun.
When Del. 1 was at ground level, the sound bounced off the trees on a state-owned property that used to be there. Then, the state cut down all the trees on that land. Then, it was the first houses at the front of the neighborhoods that protected the rest from the noise. And then, the state raised the road and put in the underpass. There’s not even a reasonable barrier to keep cars and trucks from crashing down on the roads that run parallel below, just the steel rail, which will not stop a car doing 75 mph, the average speed limit on that stretch (not the posted speed of 55).
So there you have it. A version of “let them eat cake.” Though it has been proven that Queen Marie Antoinette didn’t make that insensitive statement, the Democrats who run our state most certainly did provide the physical equivalent to a poorer neighborhood.
