I would like to take a few minutes of your busy time to thank and recognize some of our fellow citizens for their efforts in making the holiday season in Dover bigger and brighter than ever.
The pandemic kept us from enjoying the Christmas season, but this year, folks gathered together for the “Home for the Holidays” tree lighting, a concert by Delaware State University at the Schwartz Center for the Arts, under the direction of Sidney Sessoms, and the “Dashing Through Downtown Dover” electric light parade.
A special thank-you to the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce, the city of Dover Parks & Recreation, the city of Dover Public Works, the city of Dover Police Department and the city of Dover Electric Department for all their coordination. And the Dover Fire Department, who carefully transported Santa Claus to the events and throughout the city, bringing joy to the children young and old as part of their “Santa Runs,” which are annual events of Robbins Hose Co. No. 1.
A heartfelt thank-you to Katie Kempista, Kay Sass, Brandy Ridgeway and all the volunteers for the great “Dashing Through Downtown Dover” electric light parade.
And finally, to the Electric Department crew who lovingly erected the peace sign on The Green, thank you.
May that sign reflect the hopes and dreams of all the citizens of Dover, as we approach a bright and shiny new year.
Happy holidays.
Mayor Robin Christiansen
