Why would the Delaware State News publish such an inflammatory letter as that written by Terrell A. Williams (“Too many are complacent about White extremism,” June 7)? To print such screed portrays the exact same bigotry he espouses to detest.
I own firearms, I own ammunition, I own camouflage apparel. Now, suddenly, thanks to his omniscient judgment, I’m suddenly a “White supremacist”? I don’t think so. What does he call a Black or Brown person who shares those same traits?
Colleges and universities continue to be cesspools for fomenting anger. If it’s not your race, it’s your genetic sex. If it’s not your sex, it’s the cultures you “appropriate.” If it’s not that, then it’s always the political ideology you believe in. These communist bastions haven’t overtly added religion to the mix only because that’s always saved, as in Nazism, as their “final solution.”
Mr. Williams’ claims that I am more likely to be killed by a White person betrays actual Department of Justice statistics. His implications about gun laws are also disingenuous of facts. Contrary to media claims, I’d bet that it’s easier to find and buy cocaine and fentanyl than it is to find a licensed gun dealer. Federal and state documentation is more difficult than any other process in America. It is virtually impossible to buy, own and carry a gun in New York, Washington, D.C., or even Chicago, where the weekly death tolls are ridiculously abhorrent.
I would ask him to tell me exactly what an “assault weapon” really is. He must refrain from using terms like “black,” “pistol grip,” “barrel shroud” and “magazine-fed.” He also can’t pick the amount of ammunition it holds. (A .22, off the shelf, uses the same mechanism as an ArmaLite Rifle Model 15 and can hold up to 15 rounds, and most modern semi-automatic pistols hold 17 rounds.) He certainly cannot use “automatic,” as automatic firearms have been illegal in America for close to 100 years.
I have been around and owned guns since I was 6. I served nearly 30 years in the military. In over 75 years, I have never shot or assaulted anyone. I have enjoyed friendships and love for every person, great numbers whose skin tone was not the same as mine.
I’m offended by bigotry in any form, and I tend to react when anyone tries to paint me as something I’ve never been. I’m positive that the vast majority of Americans feel the same way.
Special groups with special interest always drape themselves in the flag, screaming for “equal rights,” when , in effect, they seek “special” rights given to them without the labors of earning them.
