Letter to the Editor: Ennis endorses Kent recorder of deeds candidate

Posted

I have known D.J. Cox, a Democratic candidate for Kent County recorder of deeds, since he was a teenager and have found him to be cooperative, intelligent, honest, community-minded and a man of integrity.

He also has an unwavering work ethic that has left his mark of good faith, hard work and an earnest commitment wherever he has directed his focus within his community, the county and the state, thus contributing to positive outcomes. A graduate of Delaware Technical Community College, Mr. Cox desires to enter public service as recorder of deeds for Kent County and made his filing on Feb. 1, 2022.

The mission of the recorder of deeds is to serve the people of Kent County by “correctly recording indexing documents in a timely and efficient manner, by courteously responding to requests for help and information by collecting and properly accounting for the appropriate fees and taxes, and by providing every employee with motivation, training, and experience so that each one can enjoy progressing toward a higher level as a skilled and productive worker.”

Ownership of a home and property is the American dream. Wouldn’t you, as such a property owner, desire to have someone like Mr. Cox, who is youthful, ambitious, dedicated and resourceful, to administer the handling of your deed-recording transactions?

If so, I hope you will join me in supporting Douglas “D.J.” Cox on Tuesday, Nov. 8, for Kent County recorder of deeds.

Sen. Bruce Ennis, D-Smyrna
