Sens. Bruce Ennis, Kyle Evans Gay, Stephanie Hansen, Elizabeth “Tizzy” Lockman, Sarah McBride, Marie Pinkney, Dave Sokola, Laura Sturgeon and Bryan Townsend and Reps. Paul Baumbach, David Bentz, Franklin Cooke, Sherry Dorsey Walker, Krista Griffith, Kendra Johnson, John Kowalko, Larry Lambert, Melissa Minor-Brown, Eric Morrison and Madinah Wilson-Anton: On behalf of the Progressive Democrats of Sussex County, I want to thank you for your powerful message to Delaware’s U.S. senators regarding the importance of passing Senate Bill 1 — the For the People Act — with or without the filibuster.
Your courage to call the filibuster a relic of the Jim Crow era is the kind of action needed to remind our U.S. senators what side of history they will be on if they block the passage of SB 1 by refusing to carve out voting rights from the filibuster.
Our country and our state are better served because elected leaders like you are willing to speak out when a big lie is endangering the voting rights of so many Americans. I hope our U.S. senators listen to your message and act with the same kind of patriotism your letter represents.
Thank you.
Joanne Cabry
Chair, Progressive Democrats of Sussex County
