I have had the pleasure of knowing Kent County Sheriff Brian Lewis since 2020, when we met volunteering at the Code Purple men’s homeless shelter. I have come to know and appreciate his passion and commitment in assisting those in need throughout the community. Whatever the program or activity, Brian is there, serving as an example of an involved, caring public servant. He is passionate about youth, veterans, homelessness, education, culture and animals. His perspective embraces diversity, and his focus and decisions strive to always reflect what is in the best interests of the community and the office he holds.
He knows that serving often means sacrificing because, if you are at a meeting or an event, you are not home having dinner with family. That is a choice Sheriff Lewis makes time and time again. He is an excellent example of “service before self,” and I am proud to call him my friend.
Brian Lewis has been the sheriff for the last four years, and when it comes to experience, commitment and knowledge, Brian is a proven community leader and sheriff. I ask you to join me and vote to reelect him for another term as sheriff on Nov. 8.
