Letter to the Editor: Biden presidency so far: chaos and destruction

Posted

The 2020 presidential election was about personality versus policy. After one year of Joe Biden, it’s evident that choosing personality has resulted in less energy independence and the resultant damage to our national security; a wide-open Southern border; an inflow of the killer drug fentanyl; ridiculous mask and inoculation mandates; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention withholding important COVID-19 data; our supply chain crisis; incredible inflation; the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan; an increase in racial tension; lawlessness running rampant; initiating a foolish nuclear arms deal with Iran; the introduction of questionable practices to select a nominee for the Supreme Court; and an increase in our national debt due to wild government spending.

Those are probably the most egregious and reckless policy decisions President Biden has made in his first year. What will his second look like?

The policies dictated by fanatical climate-change advocates and the resultant loss of our energy independence is threatening our national security. Not being a net exporter of energy has killed our ability to keep the price of energy stable and we must rely on the Middle East and Russia to import the oil necessary to keep this economy moving. Therefore, we are funding the war against Ukraine. Our president has chided the oil and gas industry for price hikes that his climate change policy has caused, and he has insulted the American citizen by indicating that we need to “understand” these rising prices.

The removal of the “stay in Mexico” policy has opened the Southern border to people illegally entering the United States. I feel President Biden has given control of the Southern border to the Mexican cartels, and our border czar, the effervescent vice president, has done nothing to stop the cartels or the drugs they control to flow into this country. Our president is placing more emphasis on the Ukrainian border than our own Southern border.

In less than 12 months, it has been said that we added over 2 million people who illegally immigrated to the already estimated 11 million-plus already here. The resulting economic strain on communities across this country is only going to worsen. And fentanyl, coming through Mexico from China, has killed how many American citizens in the last 12 months?

Based on congressional testimony on the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, the secretary of defense and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff should have resigned. President Biden killed so many accomplishments of President Donald Trump. A new withdrawal plan could have been negotiated but wasn’t because of Biden’s lack of foreign policy expertise.

The policies of district attorneys in many Democratically controlled cities that favor the criminal over the victim are proving that they are systematically dismantling our legal system. When are we going to realize that policies based on defunding (reimagining!) the police and a rotating-door policy of arresting and then letting criminals go is only going to make this country less safe?

We’ve always had to be concerned about Vladimir Putin; however, after 365-plus days of Joe Biden’s presidency instituting the policies of far-left radicals and zealous climate-change advocates, perhaps we need to start thinking about how those policies currently and will continue to destroy our great nation.
