Hunters are required to register temporary deer stands, deer ground blinds and trail cameras that they place and leave overnight on state wildlife areas, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced Monday.
Registration, which is free online, will help managers of these areas evaluate the increasing number and use of the tools.
Maps of these areas provide additional details on the placement of temporary deer stands and blinds, which are allowed Aug. 1 through Feb. 15 in some spots, and trail cameras, permitted June 1 through Feb. 15 on all state hunting land.
Placement of a deer stand, deer blind or trail camera in a state area does not provide the owner exclusive hunting rights there, and the Division of Fish & Wildlife is not responsible for theft or damage to equipment left by hunters.
A single registration number can be used for multiple deer stands, deer blinds and trail cameras from year to year. Once the registration form is submitted, the applicant will receive an email containing a registration number, which then must be legibly and conspicuously displayed on each item.
