Froehlich: DOGE is a chaos machine, not a method for efficiency

Posted

In my four decades of working life, I have never come across a company that has chosen the Department of Government Efficiency method of unfettered impulsivity and chaos to achieve efficiency and waste reduction. Have you?

I don’t know anyone who would hire inexperienced, unsupervised people with no pertinent knowledge or training to oversee sensitive issues, data or budgets. Do you?

Successful companies approach efficiency and waste reduction through thorough examination and careful planning and execution by competent people. Folks who believe that Donald Trump and Elon Musk are cutting waste are putting their faith in impulsivity and chaos. Do you believe they will cut your idea of waste rather than my idea of waste? Do you believe they have some loyalty to you and have a stake in making sure your needs are met? Are you recognizing yet that impulsive chaos doesn’t cut waste for anyone?

Those impulsive billionaires — one who has six business bankruptcies — are going to gather money and resources for themselves and generate tons of waste for everyone else. Do impulsive firings based on arbitrary search terms sound like they care whether your job is protected? Sorry. Those eggs and gas you hoped to afford? Nope. That private information you thought belonged to you? Nope.

Chaos doesn’t favor you or me. Impulsive chaotic billionaires get off on gathering power and attention to themselves, not on making sure the rest of us get what we need. Let’s all demand an end to the chaos machine.

Thank you for your consideration of this letter.
