DOVER - Due to inclement weather scheduled to last until late Friday night, Kent County Tourism has made the decision to cancel Friday activities that were scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Legislative Mall, including a concert by the band 33 1/3 a fireworks display.

“Our number one priority is to keep all constituents and attendees of Dover Days safe” said, Wendie Vestfall, executive director for Kent County Tourism. “It’s unfortunate that we have had a consistent rain for the last few days and the forecast for tomorrow is more of the same.  However, on a positive note, it does look like the sun will come out for most of Saturday. We are hoping to see everyone at the Annual Dover Days Parade, which kicks off at 9:30 a.m. and hope they stick around for the rest of the weekend's scheduled activities.

The following events tied to Dover Days will still be taking place on Friday:

5-7 p.m. - “Barbara Warden” exhibit opening, Biggs Museum of American Art, Dover.  In her first one-person exhibition at the Biggs Museum of American Art, artist Barbara Warden features the finest examples of her year-long exercise of creating one drawing a day.

6-8 p.m. - “There’s a Party in the House” at the Old State House on The Green.  Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Old State House restoration.  Come dressed in your 1970s clothes to celebrate the 40th birthday of The Old State House.  Dance and party like its 1976.  Music, refreshments, dancing and tours.  Free

6:30-8 p.m.  In Harmony Concert at the Dover Public Library, free

7-8 p.m. “Bobby Horton:  Songs and Stories of the Civil War”, Schwartz Center for the Arts, Dover.  Dressed as a 19th c. performer using period musical instruments, Bobby explores the stories of both the North and the South through the music they loved.  $15 per person.  Visit schwartzcenter.com for tickets.

8-9 p.m.  “Lantern Tour of the Old Methodist Cemetery”.  Begins at Johnson Victrola Museum.  Join or guides through this historic cemetery tour by lantern light.  Travel among ornate grave markers to hear of traditions from the past.  $10 per person.  Space is limited.  Call 739-9194 for reservations or weather concerns.
