DOVER - A 29-year-old Dover man was taken into custody without incident after a five-hour standoff that began Wednesday night and stretched over into Thursday morning, police said.

After being persuaded to leave a residence in the 1400 block of John Clark Road, police said Joshua Pulliam was taken to Delaware State Police Troop 3 at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Shortly afterward, a news release listed pending charges as second-degree assault, strangulation, unlawful imprisonment (two counts), third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangering, terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a child and breach of release.

The breach of release came from an alleged incident on April 5, 2015, police said.

Mr. Pulliam also had charges pending through the Dover Police Department, including breach of release and two counts of offensive touching. On Thursday morning, a spokesman said city police were not called to the scene.

State police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said the sequence began at approximately 7:30 p.m. as troopers went to a residence to help the Division of Family Services with an emergency custody of a juvenile response.

As troopers attempted to contact occupants, police said a 28-year-old female came out through the rear door with her 18-month-old female child. Police said both appeared to have non-life threatening injuries to their upper extremities.

The woman and infant were transported to an undisclosed local hospital for treatment, Sgt. Bratz said.

A man had barricaded himself in the residence, and police said a Special Operations Response and Conflict Management teams established communication, which led to him eventually surrendering.

At the time of the news release, police said bond information and booking photo were unavailable.

Several residence were evacuated as a precaution, Sgt. Bratz said, and John Clark Road between Daniel Rodney Drive and Richard Bassett Road was closed for five hours while investigators were on scene.
