After reading about the recent outbreak of crime and violence in the city of Dover by staff writer Craig Anderson, "Dover man, 50, dies in shooting incident" and "Police: Two persons injured, property damage in Dover shooting," I’m curious what our mayor, police chief and council members intend to do to protect the citizens. The mayor and police chief are accountable to the citizens of Dover. It is time that they wake up and smell the coffee, and take action to stop this nonsense. Enough with the excuses, enough with telling the people that their hands are tied because of the attorney general, enough with allowing Dover to get to the point where citizens want to move out and relocate because they feel unsafe. I think many of us have about had it with the excuses. How many more police resources do the taxpayers need to pay for to prevent the crimes? Examples are cameras, an increase in salaries, top-of-the-line equipment with highly rated police vehicles, etc..,etc..,etc.
It is sad when Dover should be flourishing and becoming a city of the future but instead is falling deeper and deeper into despair and brokenness.
