Ellis: Trump would be a danger to democracy

Posted

Donald J. Trump is a clear and present danger to our democracy and our sovereignty as a nation; he has no love for this country nor the American people. Donald Trump loves money and power, not people, which was evident during the pandemic. His incompetence and his inability to logically work toward a solution caused thousands of Americans to die. The final count of coronavirus deaths in the U.S. was over a million, second only to the death toll of India.

Donald Trump not only failed in his leadership of a country during a pandemic, but he also failed in uniting the country. In fact, his poisonous rhetoric purposely and intentionally divided this country even more. He hired his daughter and son-in-law as senior advisers in his administration, and, while in these positions, both Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump earned between $172 million and $640 million in outside income. Not only did Trump use favoritism in his hiring practices, but nepotism was also employed. Another interesting fact is that Jared Kushner received a $2 billion investment from the Saudi crown prince (part of an Arab nation). No, wait, isn’t Jared Jewish? I guess money is the only thing that matters.

Let’s talk about this second time around. Donald Trump is still spewing the same old rhetoric he did the last time, doing whatever he needs to do, telling whatever lies he needs to tell to get back into the White House. But, this time, he joined forces with billionaire Elon Musk, who, like him, has no moral compass. Elon — a man who, himself, is an immigrant — wants to tell Americans about democracy, which is something that I find humorous since he was born in South Africa under apartheid. The only reason Elon Musk is supporting Donald Trump is money because of the tax cut Trump has given to the wealthy and that he will give again if elected. Wealthy immigrants like Musk know that, in their own countries — like Musk’s South Africa — almost half of personal earnings would be eaten up in taxes. But here, in the United States, he is able to cheat us all by not paying his fair share in taxes. Donald Trump has promised Elon a position in his administration, and, of course, Musk is now trying to buy the American vote to get a tired, old man elected — one who wants to be king, thus ensuring Elon Musk a position in his court. Don’t sell the things that no one can take away from you: your vote and your soul.

Donald Trump was, and is, a failure as an honest businessman, and he was a failure as president. Don’t be fooled by a liar, a cheat and a felon. Put your country first and vote for America.
